Session Information

This session focuses on the broad and interdisciplinary field of non-Hermitian photonics, covering a wide range of topics, with a primary emphasis on the emergence of exceptional points (EPs). EPs are spectral degeneracies unique to non-Hermitian systems, enabling extraordinary phenomena such as enhanced sensing, topological mode control, and unconventional lasing. The session also invites studies on systems exhibiting parity-time (PT) symmetry through engineered gain-loss balance, as well as on other emerging directions like retardation-induced EPs, pseudo-PT-symmetric structures, and related concepts. Contributions on these core topics, as well as related studies on non-Hermitian topology, nonlinear dynamics, and quantum noise in open systems, are highly welcome. The session aims to highlight both the profound fundamental insights and the significant technological potential driving this rapidly advancing area of photonics.
