Session Information

Metasurfaces, as two-dimensional arrays of subwavelength artificial atoms, have unlocked unprecedented capabilities for the simultaneous and independent manipulation of light's polarization and diffraction properties. By locally engineering phase, amplitude, and polarization responses, they enable flat optical devices that control wavefronts, tailor polarization states, and structure optical fields with exceptional flexibility. This synergy between polarization and diffraction optics at the nanoscale is revolutionizing fields such as compact polarization imaging, secure encryption, structured light generation, and ultra-miniaturized spectroscopic systems.
This session will focus on recent advances and future directions in the design, fabrication, and application of metasurfaces for sophisticated polarization and diffraction control. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
  • Polarization-dependent meta-holography and multiplexing
  • Vectorial field generation and structured light with metasurfaces
  • Advanced polarization optics: metadevices for analysis, conversion, and sensing
  • Chiroptical metasurfaces for circular dichroism and enantiomer detection
  • Spectral and angular diffraction control via dispersion-engineered metasurfaces
  • Diffractive wavefront engineering for metalenses, beam steering, and shaping
  • Hybrid and multifunctional metasurfaces combining polarization and spectral responses
  • Computational imaging and sensing leveraging polarization-diffraction metasurface encoders
  • Active and tunable metasurfaces for dynamic polarization and diffraction management
  • Multi-channel interference-based quantum metasurfaces
