Starting from 2026, The Electromagnetics Academy (TEMA) is pleased to announce the establishment of several new awards within the field of PhotonIcs and Electromagnetics Research (PIER).

PIER Early Career Award

Eligibility & Requirements

• Age: Candidates must be 40 years of age or under.
• Nomination: Nomination from a Fellow of The Electromagnetics Academy or a General Chair of the upcoming PIERS symposium is required.
• Documentation: A comprehensive CV for the candidate is required. The final two sections of the CV must be dedicated to the following:
  I. Technical Achievements:
  A summary of one or two of the candidate’s most distinctive technical contributions to the progress in photonics and electromagnetics research.
  II. Professional Society Activities
  (i) PIER-Related Activities: Contributions to PIERS (Photonics and Electromagnetics Research Symposium) conferences and PIER (Progress In Electromagnetics Research) journals (including the premium new journal: PIER Photonics).
  (ii) External Activities: Involvement or participation in other (non-PIER) professional societies.

Awardees will be selected by the Award Committee of The Electromagnetics Academy through anonymous voting.
